Ah, May! What a wonderful month! We wait for it all year! The weather is not too hot or cold, it’s just perfect! It’s the month where everything in nature begins to blossom and bloom. It is the season of “new birth.”
Every year, during this month, we set apart a special day to honor our mothers. God has placed inside of every woman the unique ability to do what only women can do. This is the ability to conceive new life and give birth. What a glorious time of celebration!
Many times throughout history, God has used mothers to bring about change. One of my favorite scriptures is Judges 5:7. “Village life ceased, it ceased in Israel, until I Deborah arose; arose a mother in Israel.” In verse 24 of this chapter, we see another woman named Jael being praised. “Most blessed among women is Jael, the wife of Heber the Kenite, blessed is she among women in tents.” Here in the same chapter, we see God using two completely different women. Deborah, a Judge and leader in Israel, and an ordinary housewife, named Jael, both being used by God to save their nation from destruction. The nation of Israel had been sold into the hands of their enemies. God used these two women to bring their nation deliverance and freedom.
