Guard Against Spiritual Deception #4 (from A. W. Tozer)
1 Timothy 4:1-2 1 “Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy…”
1 Thessalonians 5:21 Test all things; hold fast what is good.
1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.
Matthew 7:15-16 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits…
These things are upon us today! The need to test all things, every spirit, and the fruit of those who claim to speak for God, is of paramount importance. To do this, we employ:
THE SEVENFOLD TEST: What is this doing to me? How may I know if some new thing is from above or below?
Recently The Mission’s Board at “The Church of Grace and Peace” sent out a Scouting Trip to the Navajo Reservation in Window Rock, AZ. A Scouting Trip is made to determine the possibility of making a Short Term Mission Trip in the future. Our goal was to meet with current GAP supported Missionaries Bishop Herb Hutchinson and his wife Pastor Lois Hutchinson. GAP has had a relationship with the Hutchinson’s for years and is one of our many supported Missionaries. They head up Summit Training Post better known as STP in Window Rock, AZ. The Hutchinson’s have had a heart and a calling for the Navajo Indians for the last 17 years. Our mission was to spend some quality time at STP and evaluate their need.

“Powerful in Panama”
Recently The Missions Board at The Church of Grace and Peace sent a team of dedicated missionaries to Panama on a short-term mission trip. Our goal this month is for you to get a feel for what our missionaries do in order to serve a great God!
I spent some time with Nate Huber and Gabby Aquilino as they shared their personal testimony and experience on this recent trip. Ande Weathers was the GAP team leader and Dan and Jess Cotton were the lead missionaries. The team worked daily with Dan Cotton and was supported by Jess Cotton and Jenny Jack who are on the ground full-time in Panama. These folks are GAP supported missionaries.
As Nate (and Gabby, who was in the background while we were on the phone) started to share his experience about Panama you could feel his passion for missions seep out. He gave an accurate snapshot of the 10 day trip. He shared with us that the first place they went was Santa Catalina. Something that was a bit unsettling initially was that the very rich lived right next to the very poor. This just didn’t seem to make a lot of sense.
At Cutting Edge Youth Ministry we strive to cultivate a family-like community among our teens, and as such we exercise a variety of strategies to achieve that goal. One way we cultivate this atmosphere is through many seasonal events such as our Harvest Bash, Turkey Football and the annual Christmas Party, all of which are coming up within the next three months! Our mission during these events is not only to have fun, but to give the teens a bonding experience with genuine people so that they have a sense of identity within the group. We especially like to have these larger events during this time of year because of the back-to-school time where the students are starting out new seasons of their lives.
Enjoy the “Zoë” kind of life!
