The Department of Biblical Counsel at The Church of Grace and Peace has a mission to see every man, woman and child set free and delivered from all oppression and calamity so that they “may be complete and proficient, well-fitted and thoroughly equipped for every good work”; recognizing that we are planned for God’s pleasure, formed for God’s family, created to be like Christ, shaped for serving God and made for a mission. (Luke 4:18b; 2 Timothy 3:17)
We place our confidence in the belief that “every scripture is God-breathed and profitable for instruction, for reproof and conviction of sin, for correction of error and discipline in obedience, and for training in righteousness in holy living, in conformity to God’s will in thought, purpose, and action.” (2 Timothy 3:16)
The Department of Biblical Counsel is non-psychological and the Ministers of Reconciliation who serve are not professional counselors. This department’s primary goal is to bring about reconciliation between you and God, and you and your fellow man. Each of us is committed to seeing the promises of God fulfilled in your life. We cannot change those around you, but we come alongside you as you pursue your wholeness in Christ through the transformation of your mind, which occurs as you apply God’s Word to your daily life. Some of the programs that we offer are: Steps to Freedom in Christ is a tool to help you submit to God and resist the devil. It is “a means of resolving personal and spiritual conflicts which have kept you from experiencing the freedom and victory Christ purchased for you on the cross. It is Christ who sets us free and our response to Him in repentance and faith is what sets us free. “The battle for your mind can only be won as you personally choose truth.” Once this is done, you can start living a fruitful life by abiding in Christ and becoming the person He created you to be. Changes That Heal follows Steps to Freedom in Christ and takes you on a journey into your past so that you might understand it, thus ensuring a healthier future. You will learn that all our problems (emotional and spiritual) stem from our failure to reflect the image of God – “we have not developed the likeness of God in the vital areas of our person, and we are not functioning as we were created to function.” We were created in the image of God and He desires for us to become more Christ-like. We have all experienced hurt and rejection at some time or another. God wants to heal us of those hurts so we can be all He created us to be! Wholeness in Christ (women) and Conquering in Christ (men) offers hope for change through supportive prayer, Bible study, journaling and group discussion. Topics discussed include: codependency, anger, denial, guilt, shame, addiction, strongholds, soul ties, curses, boundaries, developing healthy relationships, reconciliation, forgiveness and regeneration. This seminar teaches God’s love and His desire to give your life significance. Grief Share is a 13-week combined video teaching and support group for people grieving the loss of someone close. This program is designed to help one successfully travel the journey from mourning to joy. “I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow.” Jeremiah 31:13 God has called us for a purpose – His Word says so. We cannot fulfill His purposes if we are bound up in unforgiveness, sin or hurts. He has given us wonderful tools to set us free and aid us in the healing process. Ask yourself, “Would I be healed?” If the answer is yes, then the Lord is wooing you to take a step of faith to make it happen.
