Established In the Truth

2 Pt 1:12 For this reason I will not be negligent to remind you always of these things, though you know and are established {grounded and stabilized} in the present truth.

We must know and be settled (fixed) in God, Himself, and in the Word of God.

See what a fixed (set; established; grounded and stabilized) heart brings:

Psalms 112:1-10 1 Praise the LORD! Blessed is the man who fears the LORD, Who delights greatly in His commandments. 2His descendants will be mighty on earth; The generation of the upright will be blessed. 3Wealth and riches will be in his house, And his righteousness endures forever.4Unto the upright there arises light in the darkness; He is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.5 A good man deals graciously and lends; He will guide his affairs with discretion.6Surely he will never be shaken; The righteous will be in everlasting remembrance.7He will not be afraid of evil tidings; His heart is steadfast, trusting in the LORD.8His heart is established; He will not be afraid, Until he sees his desire upon his enemies.9 He has dispersed abroad, He has given to the poor; His righteousness endures forever; His horn will be exalted with honor. 10 The wicked will see it and be grieved; He will gnash his teeth and melt away; The desire of the wicked shall perish.

God gave His Word to settle and establish you, to fix or set your heart.

Psalms 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.

Matthew 4:4 4 But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’”

Your spirit needs this food… Being established in the truth will settle you and anchor your heart and you will not be thrown about by every wind storm.

Ephesians 4:14-15 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christ—

You need to know the truth, speak the truth, and be established in the truth of:

1.) Who you are in Christ

2.) Who Christ is in you

3.) What Christ has done for you

4.) What Christ is doing in you (i.e. The indwelling Spirit of Truth)

Philip. 2:13 for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.
He is there to put you over: note the context of working out your salvation: 2:12 Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling;

Jude 1:3 Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common
salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.

Truth has not changed once from the 1st century to now…and it never will. God’s word is established forever

…So, contend earnestly for the truth of God’s word.

Not sin conscious – Son conscious
Not poor – rich
Not sick – healed
Not weak – strong
Not fear – love and faith
Not failure – success
Not foolish – wise
Not bondage – liberty

John 8:32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth [you know] shall make you free.”

We must know and be established in the Truth.

Here is a picture of you from God’s family album

Romans 8:31-39 31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession [Holy spirit v. 26] for us. 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? [This is the entire Godhead]

36As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.”37Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This is your life!…when you are established in the Truth – the Godhead is for you!

Isaiah 54:14 In righteousness you shall be established; You shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; And from terror, for it shall not come near you.

This is because:

Isaiah 32:17 The work of righteousness will be peace, And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

You are the Righteousness of God now, not later, so be established (Isa. 54:14).

1.)Who you are in Christ
2.)Who Christ is in you
3.)What Christ has done for you
4.)What Christ is doing in you (e.g. The indwelling Spirit of Truth – working out)

Hebrews 13:9 Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them.
Note it is the heart, not the physical man.

Romans 4:4-5 4 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. 5But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,

“Righteousness” is being made right with God. The same word that killed Ananias and Sapphira gave life to others on the same day. It’s all about faith!

Acts 20:32 “So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

1 Thessalonians 3:12-13 12 And may the Lord make you increase and abound in love to one another and to all, just as we do to you, 13 so that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.
