Rick Hockenbury

A little over two years ago I was diagnosed with stage 3 melanoma cancer. The melanoma was located on my right leg and surgery was scheduled a short time later as the first stage in my recovery. On the Sunday before my surgery, after church service was over, Pastor Jim blessed my day by praying over me. It was a beautiful compassionate prayer spoken from the heart asking Our Lord to watch over me and heal me of all my illnesses. Near the completion of Pastor Jim’s prayer, he removed his hand that was resting on my shoulder and placed it over my heart and at that moment I felt a sensation I never felt before.

At that moment all the stress and worry about the unknown and my upcoming surgery were gone. As I left the church that day, feeling Our Lords blessing, I stopped suddenly outside when I realized something amazing had happened to me. For years I have suffered from severe sciatic back pain, from two herniated discs in my lower back, and that constant pain that debilitated me at times was completely gone. The pain that I learned to live with every day of my life, the pain that kept me awake through the night, the pain that needed medication to be controlled was completely gone. As of the writing of this testimony that pain that I lived with for so many years has never returned. We prayed to Our Lord for a successful surgery and a healing of my cancer and He knew that I needed more and blessed me by healing my pain.

The Day I Crossed the Line!

crossed the line
Here is a testimony shared by one of our students regarding how God dramatically got a hold of his life and helped him step across a line. A line establishing a fresh all out commitment to serve and live for Jesus. Here are his words.

I went on a retreat on Friday, the 29th of April, to Sunday the 1st of May.
Altogether, it was great, but the day that impacted me the most was Saturday. Saturday evening went like this. It started with a skit, then my youth pastor began preaching and then an altar call and finally some worship. Before pastor gave his message there was an awesome skit we did. We had a presidential snack debate over which Dorito was better: Cool Ranch or Nacho Cheese?! I am a Nacho Cheese man myself. The skit was unusual but we loved doing it. It was so funny and ridiculous.

God’s Voice and a New Destiny

One of our long time attenders recently shared how the Lord spoke to her and helped her find a new church home. We are always encouraged by the many ways God uses to help change the course of lives for His purpose and for His glory. Here is Gina’s story.

So, here is how God moved my life & brought me to Grace & Peace. I remember like it was yesterday. It was Wednesday, March 1, 2006. I was walking through the parking lot after my shift at work. This is when I literally heard a bold male’s voice telling me, “Take another way home.” This caused me to stop right in my tracks. I remember thinking, WOW that was really different. Ignoring it, I started driving and once again heard the same bold male voice telling me, “Take another way home.” The voice had such authority, so I did. Not really knowing which route I was going to take, I just decided to drive. Next thing I knew I ended up on Old Freehold Road. As I was driving, I looked to my left & was directly in front of Grace & Peace. Once again I heard the same voice telling me, “This is going to be your Church.” I remembering thinking, this is so weird & asking myself what on earth is happening right now?? On Sunday, March 5, 2006 I decided to attend my first service at Grace & Peace.
