Currently, there are 2 bills in the NJ State Senate (S2239) and Assembly (A3202) being sponsored by 3 Democrat legislators to implement on the state level Obamacare, the new federal health care law. To read more about these two bills and to voice your opinions on them by sending a message to Governor Christie, your state legislators, and others.
That’s right 3 New Jersey Democrats seek to begin the implementation process for Obamacare in New Jersey. S2239 Sponsored by State Senator Loretta Weinberg District 37 of Bergen and State Senator Jeff Van Drew District 1 of Cape May, Atlantic and Cumberland seek to establish the NJ Health Care Reform Implementation Council. S2239 will begin to change every aspect of health care delivery to accommodate the federal “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act enacted into law by Congress March 23, 2010, and amended by the “Health Care and Education Reconciliation act of 2010.” A3202 is the Assembly companion introduced by Herb Conaway.
Both bills will radically increase costs create massive federal and state bureaucracies when fully implemented. The legislation “Establishes NJ Health Care Reform Implementation Council."
The “Obamacare” laws were a large part of the “shellacking” President Obama received nationwide on November 2nd. 21 states have filed lawsuits to challenge the constitutionality of the legislation as a violation of the Commerce Clause of the United States Constitution and with the wins of Republican Governors and Attorney Generals the number will likely go higher. The collective laws as passed by the US Congress are in excess of 5,000 pages and its contents remain a confusing mystery of intent and an already acknowledged enormous burden on business. The American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) recently announced it is raising deductibles and reducing coverage on its over 4,000 employees to avoid the scheduled tax increases on private insurance premiums.
A move by the NJ legislature to increase the burden of Garden State taxpayers now is ill advised and politically motivated. The NJFPC urges you to contact your state legislators and voice your opinion regarding S2239 and A3202. Although one committee hearing is today this legislation may have a longer process and needs your input early and now to stop Obamacare for NJ.
