In The Spotlight
The leadership of The Church of Grace and Peace is pleased to honor Bill Bennett as our Servant of the Month for June. Philippians 2:1-4 says the following:
“If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2) then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3) Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4) Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.” NIV
This portion of scripture tells us several of the attributes of a divine servant: love, compassion, humility – all things we see in the life of our brother Bill. He can be seen throughout the week serving in a variety of capacities. He is an IBS Deacon, and is pivotal in the operations of our Thursday night Institute of Biblical Studies. On Sundays he can be seen serving as head over the Information Center, greeting people and connecting them to the various individuals and activities in the church. Afterward, he can be seen serving at the GAP Café. In addition, Bill is part of the maintenance crew here at GAP and he serves above and beyond in any setting he finds himself. This is just a sampling of the wonderful blessing that Bill is to our church family.
It is such a blessing to see the various gifts of the body all working together to build His Kingdom and strengthen His church. When we are obedient to the call God places on us, it is easy to forget we are doing His will even in the simplest of services. “This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.” (2 Corinthians 9:12) Thank you Bill, for being so faithful to what our Lord has called you to and may He abundantly bless all your days.
